A man has been charged with the murder of Hull student Rebecca Love, police said today.

Jason Webster, 20, of Beverley Road in Hull, will appear at Beverley magistrates court tomorrow.

Humberside police said that the family of Ms Love, 26, from Rotherham, had been made aware that the charge had been laid.

Ms Love was found dead at The Lawns, a halls of residence building at the University of Hull in Cottingham on Friday. The foundation course student had been assaulted prior to her killing.

Mr Webster was questioned by police yesterday after a 32-year-old man held in connection with the murder was released with no police action.

Officers will not be conducting any further interviews into the case, having yesterday appealed to members of the public to help find Ms Love's missing silver-coloured Nokia mobile phone.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Garton yesterday said: "We have a large team of experienced and dedicated officers and police staff who are sifting through the information and are following up several lines of enquiry."
