House buyers should shop around for the best mortgage deals available, according to the head of the AA's home insurance division.
Janet Pell made the comments after the company released new research revealing a third of British home buyers are unhappy with their home after they have moved in.
The findings also revealed that 11 per cent of new homeowners are worried about hidden faults in their new properties.
Commenting on the study, Mrs Pell said: "For most people, buying a home will be the most important purchase they make in their lifetime"
"Once you've found your dream home, make sure you shop around for the best deal on your mortgage, surveys and home insurance."
The AA's figures were based on You Gov research carried out between September 6th and 10th.
Advice for housebuyers to look at all of the options available to them in the mortgage market comes a day after Abbey launched a new 125 per cent mortgage product.
The fully secure loan has the highest value of any deal like it on the market.
