EDF Energy has issued its submission to the government over the future of nuclear power in the UK.
In the report, the energy supplier has outlined its plans to have a new nuclear power station prepared for operation by 2017 if it is given the green light to construct a plant.
The government's consultation period on whether the UK's first new nuclear power station for over a decade will be built is set to end on Wednesday.
Discussing EDF's plans, chief executive Vincent de Rivaz said: "With strong evidence of increased public support for nuclear as part of the energy mix, we believe a positive decision from the government would be the right way ahead.
"It will enable nuclear power to continue to make a major contribution to the three key challenges of security of supply, climate change and affordability of energy supplies in the UK for generations to come."
EDF faces competition for the construction of a new British nuclear plant, after GE-Hitachi, Toshiba-Westinghouse and The Atomic Energy of Canada all published their own proposals for the project.
