People who are hosting their own Bonfire Night events should check their home insurance provides adequate protection, according to a leading provider.
Vicky Emmott of Halifax General Insurance has said it is vital that homeowners take care around November 5th and consider whether their home cover will protect them if their best laid plans go up in smoke.
Speaking after a study found that six million people would be willing to risk their own safety in order to light a bonfire, Ms Emmott stated that it would also be sensible to check the property and garden cover featured in their policies.
She explained: "We are surrounded by explosives which have the potential to cause terrible accidents, and all of us need to be sensible and avoid taking unnecessary risks around fire and fireworks.
"Those with cats and dogs may also want to consider pet insurance to protect their furry friends from the potential dangers of Bonfire Night."
Halifax's warning on November 5th has come around a week after AA Home Insurance made a similar announcement to warn customers to check that their garden if covered in their policies.
