The UK's leading energy suppliers are set to release minutes from their meetings in order to end claims that they discussed recent energy price increases.

According to reports, the Energy Retail Association (ERA), which includes all of Britain's leading gas and electricity providers, is to disclose minutes of its bi-monthly discussions to energy regulator Ofgem.

The body released a statement to The Times, in which it stated that it has never discussed pricing or product strategies of its individual companies.

It also remarked that it had "no knowledge of any price changes introduced by any of its members before they are announced to the public."

British Gas recently became the third of the UK's leading energy suppliers to up the prices of its household gas and electricity tariffs.

EDF Energy and npower have also increased their prices in the past three weeks, while Scottish and Southern Energy has stated that its has no intention to review its prices until the start of British Summer Time.
