A leading DIY and garden centre retailer in the UK has stated that it is "very important" for homeowners to have insurance for their property.
B&Q has stated that cover is especially vital for those who are thinking about carrying out home improvements without the help or guidance of an expert, as it can provide people with protection in the event of accidental damage.
A spokesperson for the company also urged amateur DIY enthusiasts to be realistic when undertaking tasks.
She said: "If a potentially dangerous task requires more skill than you can realistically offer, then do play safe and call in an expert."
"It's not only health and safety concerns that may lead you to call in a professional: timing, budget or even the law may require it."
In research published in 2005, Halifax claimed that one of its busiest times to receive home insurance claims was over Easter.
The company stated that it expects to receive around one claim every nine minutes over the period.
