The Carbon Trust is to hold several workshops across the UK to highlight how businesses can take steps to tackle concerns over climate change.

Cities including Cambridge, Birmingham, York and Newcastle are to be play host to the events in July, where firms will be advised on how they can improve their carbon footprints.

According to the organisation, around 1,000 firms are expected to attend the events this month.

Hugh Jones, solutions director at the Carbon Trust, said that considering carbon footprints was becoming "an increasing priority" for businesses.

"It has never been so important to take action on your carbon emissions to gain the benefits for your bottom line - these workshops allow you to mix with over 100 fellow businesses in your region and give practical guidance how you can achieve real reductions," he added.

Last week, the Carbon Trust also launched a new guide outlining how the carbon footprint of non-domestic buildings in the UK can be improved.
