Animal lovers in the UK have been urged by an expert to "shop around" for their pet insurance.
Chris Price, head of pet insurance for Churchill, said that approaching a number of providers for details on the cover can help pet owners to find the best and most suitable product available to them.
He added that people should also fully consider what their insurance policy contains, as they may find they are not covered for certain issues.
"Check what your cover includes. Some policies may appear cheaper but will give you a lot less cover, resulting in a nasty shock when it comes to making a claim," he explained.
Established in 1989 and now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Churchill Insurance is one of the UK's leading cover providers and originally began by providing motor products.
As well as providing pet insurance, the company also provides travel, home, car and van cover.
