Specialist wedding insurance can be highly beneficial to those getting married abroad, according to an expert.
Vicky Watson, spokesperson for Halifax Travel Insurance, said that cover should be considered as a "mandatory aspect" in preparations for holding the big day in a foreign country.
She made the comments after research by the firm found that the Caribbean, Hawaii and the Amalfi coast were the top places to tie the knot while abroad.
However, the expert added that all guests planning to attend the ceremony also need to ensure they are covered for the trip.
"It is important that a comprehensive travel insurance policy is taken out prior to leaving the UK, so that everyone can be confident that they will arrive at the wedding destination ready for the big day," she added.
The AA's public relations manger Ian Crowder recently urged those with holiday homes to ensure they have insurance for the properties.
He added that emergency travel and public liability cover should also be considered by those with buildings abroad.
