A leading energy provider has awarded a grant to allow solar panels to be installed at Wyburns Primary School in Rayleigh.
E.ON has given £17,618 under its Source community initiative to help install 20 "high-efficiency hybrid photovoltaic panels" at the school.
The solar panels will convert clean energy from the sun into electricity and is predicted to stop 2,210 kilograms of carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere by the school every year.
Community relations executive for E.ON, Tony Jenkins-Jones, said the new hybrid system will help cut both energy bills and carbon emissions in the future.
He added: "The school really impressed us with their commitment to the environment and we're delighted to award them Source funding to help make their solar project a reality."
E.ON recently invited residents in West Ancroft to learn vital information related to its plans for a new wind farm in the local area.
The energy firm has lodged plans for an eight turbine development at the site.
