Barclaycard has announced it has issued its one millionth contactless card in the UK.
New research by the firm found that 98 per cent of consumers who own the contactless card believe payments are "easy to use".
Some 88 per cent claimed that the card cut down on the amount of time they would usually spend doing routine things like buying coffee.
Barclaycard launched the new cards in September 2007 and set itself a target of hitting the one million mark by the end of 2008.
Amer Sajed, managing director of UK cards at Barclaycard, said he was "delighted" at the firm reaching their one million target this year.
He added: "More and more consumers are recognising contactless as a safe and secure way to pay, which not only saves them time, but is also easy to use."
Earlier this month, Gordon Brown called for a new and responsible approach to credit card lending.
