A new helpline has been established to help struggling homes in the UK to pay fuel bills, it has been reported.
The Home Heat Helpline, which is run by the Energy Retail Association, was launched this week and aims to help elderly and poorer families across the UK.
It is hoped that the new free helpline can offer both energy efficiency advice and financial support for people struggling to pay their fuel bills over the coming months.
Paralympian Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and veteran One Foot In the Grave actor Richard Wilson gave their backing to the campaign.
Mr Wilson said: "I'm worried people are not getting the support they are entitled to on energy bills whether it's pensioners, single parents or people with disabilities there are special rates, support through free insulation and wider help out there all for the taking."
British Gas recently launched a new emergency helpline to help its customers who were concerned about rising energy costs.
Some 300 staff manned the lines to allay people's fears about direct debit bill payments, This Is Money reported.
