A new free online Smart Meter designed to help consumers keep track of their energy costs has been launched by UKPower.co.uk.
The website's tool allows consumers across the UK to prepare for their energy bills by calculating their costs, with users entering two meter readings for their gas or electricity and the Smart Meter working out the expected costs for the usage.
All prices calculated by the Smart Meter are run through the site's Consumer Focus-accredited energy price database.
Graham Self, director at UKPower.co.uk, said the tool can help to provide consumers with "information to challenge suppliers", with concerns recently raised about energy suppliers increasing direct debit payments, adding they "can track costs for their specific usage".
He added: "This will help consumers to budget more effectively as they will be able to monitor energy costs rather than waiting for bills to come through the door."
