Lincolnshire county council is attempting to encourage its residents to apply for new grants to help reduce their energy bills.

The Everybody Benefits scheme is run by the government and is designed to help people with the high levels of energy prices in the country.

Under the scheme, homeowners can get grants of up to £2,700 in order to make their homes more energy-efficient, through the use of advice, efficient light bulbs and new insulation, which can all help to reduce overall energy bills.

Graham Marsh, executive councillor for adult social care, said people need to ensure they don’t miss out before the "cold weather begins to bite".

He added: "We want to make sure older and vulnerable people stay warm and healthy and these government grants are there to help.

"The improvements may include loft and cavity wall insulation, repairs to your existing heating system, or even a new central heating system."

Recent figures from the UK Worry Index found that the issue of energy prices are the biggest concern to people across the country.
