9 out 10 can save money!
Households can save up to £1,000 a year on their gas and electricity prices by improving their energy efficiency.
Jon McGowan, head of consumer marketing at the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and Carmel McQuaid, climate change manager at Marks & Spencer, claim that efforts to be energy efficient can "lead to huge savings".
The duo outlined measure such as turning lights off when leaving a room, boiling as much water as needed in the kettle and turning down the thermostat by one degree as simple examples of things homeowners can do.
According to the experts, these three measures alone can save £68 a year.
They added: "These are just some of the small things that people can do; if you look at some of the larger measures and add those all up together you can save up to £1000."
Figures from the EST estimate the average household spends £25 per week on energy, which equates to around £1,300 a year.
