A green energy supplier has announced it is cutting its standard gas and electricity tariffs by 7.5 per cent.

Good Energy, the only 100 per cent renewable energy supplier in the UK, will introduce the reduced tariffs from January 31st.

The firm estimates that customers will save between £50 and £100 on their gas and electricity bills per year.

Good Energy has direct relationships with over 500 independent energy generators, but has warned that renewable energy is still affected by the stability of oil and gas prices in the UK.

Juliet Davenport, chief executive officer of the company, said: "Good Energy is committed to ensuring that its customers receive the best value possible for their renewable power supply.

"Good Energy is due to start paying less for its renewable power in 2009 and we want our customers to benefit from this."

>British Gas has announced it is cutting its gas prices for all customers on its standard tariff by ten per cent from February 19th.
