9 out 10 can save money!
Consumers are starting to live greener lives as they attempt to reduce their gas and electricity bills, it has been claimed.
According to online bank Cahoot, 72 per cent of Brits are trying to reduce the amount of electricity they use by turning off unused electrical items such as PCs and TVs.
While 60 per cent of respondents to the bank's survey said they are switching to energy saving lightbulbs in a bid to reduce their bills, while 58 per cent are turning down their heating a wrapping up at home.
Matthew Timms of Cahoot said: "The credit crunch has put money saving at the front of everyone's minds.
"So it's great to see that the simple sacrifices people are making are at least helping us to live greener as a result."
He added that Cahoot was doing its bit to be ecologically-friendly by doing away with the need for branches and bank statements.
Last week, Energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband announced plans to give 400,000 British homes an energy makeover by 2015.
