Electricity and gas customers who pay for their energy bills online are benefitting from reductions in cost as the price war intensifies, it has been claimed.

British Gas reduced its Websaver 2 online tariff by an average of £11 to £1,034 last week – the figure is £180 less than the company's standard tariff.

The move comes shortly after E.ON introduced the new FixOnline tariff, which is only available over the internet.

E.ON's new deal means an average UK customer can save £123 a month when compared to standard UK tariff with a bill of around £1,035, the company stated.

According to British Gas, it is the UK's favourite cheap gas and electricity supplier.

The firm is also currently offering a £504 discount for anyone purchasing a new boiler before April 25th this year.

Savings come in the form of a £200 price reduction on the boiler itself, one-year of free HomeCare 200 worth £204 and a £100 saving exclusively for British Gas customers.
