British homeowners are backing the government's latest initiative to reduce energy bills by improving the energy efficiency of the country's existing housing stock.
The Great British Refurb includes proposals to increase the amount of mircrogeneration installed on British properties.
According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, seven million homes will be upgraded before 2020, while by 2030 the entire British housing stock will be made more energy efficient.
Research by Ipsos Mori showed that households are willing to work with the government to tackle climate change by making their homes more energy efficient.
Participants were asked about a range of microgeneration technology, such as heat pumps, smart meters and modern insulation.
In related news, Broughty Ferry's Specialist Mechanical Services has become one of the finalists for an H&V News Award for Renewables Project of the Year, reports the Guide and Gazette, after installing a heat pump system at Castle Gold Course's club house.
