9 out 10 can save money!
Consumers may be able to lower their electricity bills by opting for energy-efficient home entertainment products, it has been claimed.
Research from Sony UK, conducted by Loudhouse research, highlighted that only 43 per cent of people buying home electrical goods take into account the products' green credentials compared to 71 per cent who consider such matters when purchasing kitchen appliances, reports Click Green.
It was also noted that less than half of television purchasers were aware how eco-friendly their new TV is, despite the fact this could impact on their electricity bills.
Paula Owen, head of knowledge services at the Energy Saving Trust, told the news provider: "It's easy to lose track at home as to which products are hiking up your energy bills. With UK households spending around £3 billion a year on electricity bills to run consumer electronics products, people need a quick and easy way of knowing which products are energy efficient and therefore cheaper to run."
Ratedpeople.com, a matchmaking service for home improvers and recommended tradesmen, recently stated that small measures such as switching appliances fully off when not in use and lowering the thermostat by one degree can save people considerable sums on their energy bills.
However, while these measures can be effective, to ensure they are saving as much as possible people can use a price comparison site to check they are on the best gas and electricity tariff for them.
