Businesses offered advice on how to cut energy bills

Published on : 26/01/2010

UK businesses are being given advice on how they can cut their emissions and reduce their energy bills by the Carbon Trust.

The organisation has released an online guide detailing the steps that firms can take to make their operations more energy efficient. Businesses can log on to the Carbon Trust's website an access the Cut Carbon, Cut Costs video tutorial.

Topics which the guide covers include heating systems, lighting, IT equipment and energy management.

Hugh Jones, director of solutions at the Carbon Trust, said: "Many firms tried to cut costs to the bone at the end of last year. But many could save further, significant amounts of cash, without affecting their service or production levels, by tackling energy efficiency ."

The guide is aimed at firms which spend £50,000 or less on energy bills throughout the year.

A survey by the Confederation of British Industry found that over one-third of businesses had switched gas or electricity supplier in the past year in a bid to reduce their energy payments.
