Homeowners who are looking to use the money they have saved by switching to a cheap electricity provider to make some improvements to their property might want to opt for some bright colours when redecorating.

According to the firm behind the Ideal Home Show, these are coming back into fashion among interior designers.

Rob Nathan, group marketing manager for Media 10, explained "bold is the way forward" at present, stating oranges and reds are especially popular with experts.

These shades may have "been seen as slightly passe" in the past, he said, but are "coming back into the fore" in 2010, something those who have saved money after carrying out an electricity price comparison may wish to note.

Mr Nathan added the show, which ended earlier this month, was "very bold and vibrant", an indication that eye-catching tones are likely to be a key trend in the months to come.

And he is the latest in a number of experts who share this view.

Emma Love, writing in the Daily Mail earlier this year, said neon colours should not be discounted, as they can be used by people wanting to make a bold statement.
