More commercial property owners may soon be able to benefit from cheap electricity as part of an European Commission (EC) initiative being contributed to by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics).
National building regulations are currently being assessed with the view to addressing the ease with which construction companies can adhere to them.
If the move leads to changes in the current procedures, building firms may be able to produce more energy-efficient properties, something that would be welcomed by enterprises looking to harness the benefits of cheap electricity.
In the meantime, companies wanting to bring down their energy expenditure might want to consider carrying out an electricity price comparison to see if they could get a better deal with a different provider.
Rics said in a statement the EC may "launch accompanying measures and awareness raising campaigns in order to better coordinate the notoriously fragmented construction sector" as a result of the initiative.
