Cheap electricity could help families save a bit of extra cash throughout the year, with the money potentially being put towards a holiday to Kenya.

The country has proved itself to be a popular place for Britons who want to go on safari, the Kenya Tourist Board has said.

People who save up money from switching to a cheap electricity supplier could take in one of the country's 59 National Parks and Reserves.

"It offers safari and coast combinations [that] are very popular with the UK traveller as many want to relax on the beach as well, as an essential part of a holiday," explained Angie Sloan, regional director for the Kenya Tourist Board.

Money saved through cheap electricity could allow families to take a summer holiday this year that is slightly different from their usual getaway.

A recent report by the Post Office's Travel Money Monitor found in the first quarter of this year, demand for the Kenyan shilling increased by 33 per cent.
