Cheap gas bills could be one way husbands and wives-to-be cut back on their household expenditure to help cover the cost of their wedding.

Weddings can prove expensive and when it comes to the big day, every little may help.

Switching to a cheap gas provider could help couples running a household put aside some cash to help boost their ceremony coffers.

And according to hitched.co.uk, younger couples in particular need a helping hand with their finances.

Darren Noel, commercial director at the website, said: "Cash is probably the word that couples have the biggest problem with when it comes to their wedding present list."

He suggested people who would like donations towards a honeymoon should kindly tell their loved ones that a break would help get their married life off to a good start.

Wedding magazine recently revealed 55 per cent of couples pay for their vows themselves.

Just over a quarter said parents pay for their big day.
