Cheap electricity bills could enable families on a budget to take a break together.

And Britons need not travel far to get away from it all, after VisitEngland has suggested the country has some of the best beaches in the world.

Chief executive of the organisation James Berresford said both international and British holidaymakers are attracted to the sands of the coast.

Relaxing on a beach could mean cheap electricity bills and other household chores are far from the minds of people.

"Coastal towns and resorts account for 25 per cent of holiday trips and 33 per cent of visitor spend, so they are an incredibly important part of tourism in this country," Mr Berresford explained.

Last summer, seaside trips rose by almost a quarter, he added.

Keep Britain Tidy recently gave 71 beaches the Blue Flag award and 111 the Quality Coast Award for litter-free stretches of sand that holidaymakers can enjoy.
