Switching to a cheap electricity provider could eventually leave Britons with spare cash to put to one side for a holiday to New York.

The UK release of Sex and the City 2 on Friday (May 28th) may persuade cinemagoers to take a trip to the Big Apple.

And according to NYC and Company, those lucky enough to be heading off this summer will find a variety of festivals and events to attend.

Central Park is set to host some concerts, while Brooklyn will also be home to outdoor film festivals.

"Those looking to do something a little different this summer should pay a visit to Governors Island, just a five minute water taxi takes you to an amazing green space offering stunning views of the Statue of Liberty," advised Anna Catchpole, UK PR manager for NYC and Company.

While many individuals will not have the cash to take a holiday this summer, by switching to a cheap electricity provider, they could save enough money to visit the city next year.

Skyscanner recently revealed New York lies eighth in the top ten flight destinations for UK holidaymakers this summer.
