Businesses that operate from listed or historic buildings may wish to follow the advice of Prince Charles on how to save money and enjoy cheap gas and electricity.

The heir to the throne recently launched a new guide that details ways in which firms or individuals can cut down on power consumption - and, as a result, benefit from smaller bills, reported the Press Association.

Entitled the Green Guide For Historic Buildings, the document may focus on steps such as insulation, as well as other subtler tips like drying clothes outside and leaving the curtains open on warm days.

"I hope this guide provides a certain amount of joined-up thinking on the whole issue," the prince told the news source.

The launch of the advice booklet marked the end of a week in which Prince Charles has visited a number of environmentally-friendly projects he has supported.

Last week, the latest Energy Efficiency Indicator released by Johnson Controls showed more than half of firms are maintaining or improving their spending on sustainable power.
