Cheap gas bills could be enjoyed by businesses in London that are to receive help in reducing their carbon outputs under a new scheme.
The Carbon Trust will work with the London Development Agency and the Mayor of London to launch the initiative, which will help the capital achieve a low-carbon economy status.
Some 1,500 companies are set to be invited to take part in the challenge, which will see them take action to make their operations more environmentally friendly, with support from the Carbon Trust.
A spokesperson for the group said that partaking companies will "reduce their organisation's energy use, cut costs and reduce carbon emissions through a tailored programme of seminars, workshops and events".
Cheap gas bills could prove to be a positive end result, as well as cheaper electricity expenditure.
The UK is the first country in the world to set up legally binding carbon cutting schemes under the Climate Change Act 2008, which includes the goal to reduce emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.
