British homeowners who make a switch of energy suppliers may find they start to save enough cash to pay for a trip to Singapore.

And those who do so in time to visit this summer will be able to take part in what the Singapore Tourism Board has described as a period of "sporting history".

The country is set to host the first-ever Youth Olympic Games, which will feature all of the 26 events due to be contested in London in 2012.

"In honour of this sporting highlight, Singapore will come alive with a series of events and parties to showcase the best of what the island has to offer," explains Eunice Yeo, area director for northern and western Europe for the Singapore Tourism Board.

A break in the Asian spot may be just the incentive people need to switch energy supplier and benefit from cheaper gas and electricity rates.

Those who travel to Singapore could also take in the country's Formula 1 Grand Prix, scheduled to take place in September.
