People who save money by finding a cheap electricity supplier might want to use the money to fund a trip to Tallinn.

The city has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2011 and it will have added appeal that year, according to managing director of Insight Guide Katharine Leck.

She advised: "Don't miss its Old Town which dates back to the 13th century - the oldest in Europe."

It is home to narrow, cobbled streets that are dotted with "many fine" restaurants, the expert explained.

And for those who make substantial savings after locating a cheap electricity supplier, a visit to a number of the Baltic States could be on the cards, with Ms Leck observing there is more to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia than hen and stag weekends.

Tallinn's year as European Capital of Culture is set to kick-off on New Year's Eve with a celebration aimed at reunifying the city with the sea.
