Companies hoping to cut their business energy bills may want to follow the example of the UK arm of Toyota.
The car manufacturer is looking to develop an eco scheme for its showrooms in an effort to bolster its green credentials, Auto Evolution reports.
It is being worked on in conjunction with the Carbon Trust and it is hoped it will reduce carbon emissions and energy use across the 200 Toyota and Lexus centres throughout the nation.
Each dealership is to have its current energy levels assessed and will utilise an energy management and monitoring system to ensure they do not exceed certain amounts.
Nigel Burke, centre principal at participating organisation Somerset County Cars, said: "Through staff education, good housekeeping, constant monitoring and modest expenditure on items such as lighting or timers, we have significantly reduced our energy consumption."
It was recently revealed Cambridge City Council has slashed its business energy bill by £233,000 a year since 2005 after reducing its consumption of gas and electricity.
