More needs to be done to help homeowners implement the energy efficiency solutions that can help them benefit from cheap gas and cheap electricity bills.
This is the view of spokesman for the National Home Improvement Show Michael Holmes, who said while awareness of green technology has increased over the past few years, there is still "a gap between understanding and implementation".
He explained most property owners are likely to be motivated by expenditure and so need to be convinced that improving the energy efficiency of a home "is not cost prohibitive" and can provide financial returns swiftly.
Many may be dissuaded by the current financial climate, which has made them unwilling to invest the money needed to cut down on the amount of energy a house needs.
Those who are put off by the cost might want to consider switching to a cheap electricity supplier, which can be an easy way to accrue savings without committing to an initial outlay.
