A switch of energy supplier and the subsequent savings on gas and electricity bills it could create may allow homeowners to build a pool of cash to be used on a holiday in Kenya.

Angie Sloan, regional director for the Kenya Tourist Board, says the main attraction of the country is the "second-to-none" safari facilities it offers.

"The Maasai Mara is still the most well-known safari park in Kenya and visitors are especially keen to visit during the spectacular annual wildebeest migration between July and September," she explains.

However, those who have yet to switch energy supplier and start saving the money required for such a trip need not worry, as there are plenty of other destinations in Kenya that may be at their best in a few months.

For example, Ms Sloan notes the key coastal spot of Mombasa and Nairobi National Park as top locations to visit.

One place a little closer home to spend cash saved thanks to cheap gas and cheap electricity rates is London, which was recommended this week by Emma O'Boyle, spokeswoman for TripAdvisor.
