Business energy may be seen as a significant expense for many organisations, particularly those in the public sector where job cuts are set to take hold.

The Work Foundation is warning the removal of staff from positions in the public sector will soon have a huge impact that could last for two years.

It may be that some sectors are in a position to cut back on their business energy consumption and use the saved cash to keep workers in their roles.

"We don't really know exactly where the cuts will fall yet, but there are lots of employers that have been cutting staff, even before they know exactly where the cuts will fall," explains Stephen Overell, associate director at the foundation.

Saving business energy could be a priority across the country, with recent figures by the Centre for Economics and Business Research suggesting unemployment will reach ten per cent in Wales, the north of England and the West Midlands between 2010 and 2015.
