People hoping to enjoy cheap electricity and cheap gas bills will find the introduction of insulation to their home is increasingly important.
Anna-Marie DeSouza, editor of Built It magazine, says she "can't stress enough the importance of a properly insulated home".
"You'll shave money off your heating bills and provide yourself with a more comfortable living environment," the expert adds.
Ms DeSouza notes it is becoming vital in the modern world to lead a green life, with the technology on hand to do this increasingly available.
However, as well as environmental benefits, it is worth considering which methods will bring with them the potential for cheap gas and electricity bills.
Insulation can be fitted by anybody and prevents heat from escaping from a home, reducing the amount that has to be consumed.
Despite the advantages, recent figures by Thinkinsulation.com showed 80 per cent of householders in the country have not upgraded the insulation in their property during the last three years.
