Business energy consumers may be interested in the efficiency efforts of an Oxfordshire village, which has been commended by prime minister David Cameron for its achievements.

Mr Cameron also acts as the local MP for the area's Witney constituency and remarked that the partnership between residents and British Gas was "getting results" in the form of lower bills.

He was introduced to people who have been involved in the community's successes, which include nearly 600 actions taken to reduce emissions. These include fitting 393 economic light bulbs and making sure appliances are turned off when they are not being used.

It is part of the British Gas Green Streets project, which has challenged 14 local areas to cut down on their carbon output, with the winner being granted a prize of up to £100,000 for its choice of environmental scheme. It has received further backing from television personality Ben Fogle.
