Homeowners could be tempted to switch energy supplier after E.ON and Tesco announced a partnership that could make it easier for people to pay their bills.

In a new scheme, customers of the grocery giant will be able to use certain vouchers they have accrued to help cover the costs of their charges to the power firm.

E.ON's Graham Bartlett described the new scheme as "a unique and convenient way" to assist in the management of costs. Furthermore, he expressed satisfaction that the company is the only one to offer such a deal.

Under the new project, 50 per cent of the value of Tesco Clubcard vouchers used to pay off a bill will be added. If shoppers use £50 worth of coupons, they will receive a £25 deduction from their charges.

Earlier this week, npower announced its customers would also receive 50 per cent savings if they did not call out an engineer to fix their boiler, as part of the hometeam 50 plan.
