Results from a study carried out by E.ON - one of the "big six" energy suppliers - has revealed that small businesses in the United Kingdom are losing around £7.7 billion per year, just by failing to install energy efficiency equipment, according to an article published by BusinessGreen.
This energy efficiency equipment, which includes energy monitors, smart meters and motion sensors, has been installed by just a fifth of those surveyed by E.ON for the study - meaning they're potentially missing out on annual savings of up to £2,000.
Head of business sales at E.ON, Iain Walker, commenting on the results, stated: "Introducing small changes in your business behaviour, like installing energy saving equipment, light sensors and smart meters, can have a significant financial impact on your energy bills."
He continued, adding: "With energy saving playing a key role in employees' happiness in the workplace, taking a more efficient approach makes sense. It's a win, win, win situation - saving your business money, helping protect the environment and improving the happiness of employees."
