E.ON has confirmed that it will be participating in Which?'s Big Switch scheme, according to an article published by This Is Money.

However, it has warned the 250,000 customers signed up for the scheme not to expect cheap electricity and gas tariffs, stating that it won't be "deep discounting" to win the reverse auction - the first of which is set to take place on April 26.

The energy supplier has also promised that if it wins the auction process, it will offer the winning tariff to all of its customers, including those already on fixed tariffs.

Jeremy Davies, E.ON marketing director, commented on the company's stance towards the scheme.

He said: "As part of our Reset Review of our business, we have clear principles governing our actions.

"One of these it that we believe that all customers must be treated fairly and therefore must be able to take advantage of every appropriate E.ON product.

"That is why, should it be selected by Which? at the end of their process, our "Big Switch" tariff will then be made available to any of our customers regardless of whether they had signed-up to the Big Switch or not," Davies stated.

E.ON is, at this point, the only "Big Six" supplier to sign up for the scheme; Scottish and Southern Energy and British Gas already revealed that they will not be taking part, while EDF Energy, npower and Scottish Power are yet to make an announcement regarding their participation.
