All of the big six energy companies have now stopped doorstop selling following E.ON's announcement that it will cease partaking in the practice, according to an article published by This Is Money.

E.ON has taken the decision as part of its "Reset" review which will see a host of changes made; one of these changes will see tariffs simplified.

Npower, Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), EDF Energy, Scottish Power and, more recently, British Gas, all  previously announced that they would be ending doorstop sales. SSE received a £1.25 million fine for using misleading sales techniques in May, whilst Scottish Power, nPower and SSE are currently being investigated by industry regulator, Ofgem, regarding their previous doorstop sales practices.

E.ON are also under investigation, however it isn't clear whether this is in relation to doorstop sales.

Director of energy at Consumer Focus, Audrey Gallacher, applauded E.ON's move to simplify its tariffs.

She said: "E.ON's moves to make its energy tariffs simpler to understand are very positive, as many customers find the current complex array of tariffs on offer baffling and difficult to investigate.

"We also welcome moves to make their bills more consumer friendly and provide better tariff and energy efficiency advice."
