The company has also claimed that around 900,000 people may need to make a claim after the school break.
Commenting on the findings, Sainsbury's head of home insurance Steve Johnson said: "A week of having your children at home can be a challenge in terms of keeping them amused and entertained.
"If the weather is poor and they have to spend more time indoors, the chances of your home being damaged in some way by them or their friends increases."
Sainsbury's insurance broker division is one part of the company's bank service, which was launched in February 1997.
The business also offers life, travel, car and pet insurance, as well as personal loans and savings accounts.
