He added that drivers who try to move to a new insurance company after being convicted of a motoring offence may struggle to find an insurance broker willing to provide cover for them.
Mr Crowder explained: "Your existing insurance company will probably stick with you. But if you try to move to a new insurance company you will find that several will prefer not to quote.
"If you get disqualified, but you subsequently get a clean record, you will find it difficult to find somebody who will give you cover and when you do, it will be extremely expensive."
