FSB reveals 'deep concern' over energy prices

A leading business organisation has revealed its "deep concern" over rising energy prices in the UK.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has stated that many of its members will be as affected by increases to the cost of gas and electricity as households, as many work from home.

John Wright, national chairman of the body, added it was alarming that many people were set to suffer while large energy firms like Centrica were announcing record profits.

He added: "These are exceptional times and everyone should make sacrifices, including the petrol and gas companies.

"We would urge these companies to keep prices down as much as possible and to react to lower international oil prices as quickly as possible."

The FSB also recently warned that the decision to disband energywatch in October could affect many small businesses.

According to the body, the move would leave many firms with no one to turn to for advice on energy contracts.
