The ten cheapest second-hand cars to insure have been revealed with the Smart car coming out on top.

The Smart Pure was the cheapest car to insure at £350.84 per year, with costs rising to £581.95 for the Volvo V70 although a quote from a rival insurer was as high as £1420.91, making shopping around essential for consumers.

Meanwhile, the AA has warned today (October 21st) that car insurance has risen by 3.1 per cent in the last three months, with home insurance costs rising by 1.8 per cent.
