Iain Osborne of the body says it is a positive step and a "welcome outcome" for homes that use the gas and electricity provider.
"While today's announcement is good news for consumers, the future for electricity prices remains uncertain," Mr Osborne notes, which could further incentivise signing up with a cheap energy provider now.
Some people may find that by comparing electricity prices online, they are able to sign up with a new provider and benefit from lower bills, which could put them in a strong position should the market become volatile.
The Guardian this week reported five British universities have teamed up to launch the Transforming Energy Demand project, which will target teenagers in a bid to make lowering energy consumption an attractive proposition.
