Britons are not against the idea of spending money if it increases their chance of enjoying reduced dual fuel prices when it comes to paying monthly bills.

Nigel Berman, founder of, says that many people now place "paramount importance" on finding green products and energy-saving devices.

Such purchases could include power-saving light bulbs, insulation for the walls of attics and roofs, as well as water butts.

"We've found that people are prepared to spend money to save money. There's been a lot of advertising and media attention to push the energy saving message and I think people are taking notice," Mr Berman states.

Investment in green products can be an alternative, or an effective addition, to other techniques such as a switch of energy supplier.

The expert's comments came after Bosch's Driving Green Britain survey found 63 per cent of Britons now think of the environment as a priority when buying a new car.
