Business energy customers are being hampered by rising fuel costs when it comes to fully getting over the recession.

The Major Energy Users Council (MEUC) has come out against the continuing hikes in power prices and has even set up the Carbon Action Group to deal with such expenditure.

It believes dual fuel providers are hurting UK firms and restricting their ability to overcome any economic problems experienced in recent times.

Andrew Bainbridge, chairman of MEUC, says: "We are concerned about the lack of sensitivity around extra costs at a time when businesses are trying to recover from a recession."

If the government fails to act to lower business energy costs, companies may find the only way to enjoy cheaper bills is to make a switch of energy supplier.

Some firms may be interested in the conclusions of the Daily Telegraph, which this week found the best tariff on offer to be EDF's Online S@ver 8.
