Business energy customers based in offices will have to switch their attention to dealing with power consumption if they are to ever go green.

Michael Shanks, chief technology officer at Ultraspeed, explains IT equipment is a huge drain of electricity and is responsible for much of the monthly bills dished out to companies from dual fuel providers.

He notes there are ways to deal with the issue and reduce consumption, such as virtualising desktops and running fewer pieces of equipment.

But ultimately, organisations must find a long-term solution to cutting down on the amount of electricity they use if they are to be eco-friendly.

Another benefit of this is likely to be a reduction in bills paid out by companies, making their premises more profitable in the process.

Ultraspeed specialises in providing and hosting forward-thinking technology that finds innovative ways to deal with problems such as excessive energy use.
