Replacing old windows with new ones – especially in rooms where the most power is consumed – is a recommended move.
Companies that are not able to invest in new windows are instead advised by Mr Strawbridge to place radiator reflectors behind their heaters.
"Simple ways to prevent heat being wasted through old draughty windows is to put up thick curtains and remember to close them in the evening," he added.
The expert went on to describe modern windows as a "no-brainer", suggesting bosses splash out on them immediately.
Malcolm Harrison, an independent property industry expert, recently admitted those in older houses or premises are unable to do as much to improve their energy efficiency.
